Dental Implants

  • Dental Implants

At Ryo Dental Clinic, we have discovered treatment methods to improve the patients’ quality of life through dental implants. Dental Implants helps patients to gain back their confidence by improving the overall health through natural appearing finish of the oral cavity that functions well.

The main benefits of the Dental Implants treatment method for missing teeth are:

  1. Maintains the completeness of the bone structure after the tooth loss
  2. Protects the health of the temporary tooth because the use of bridge is not necessary
  3. Takes place of the unfitting, removable denture.
  4. Occlusal strength is distributed throughout the mouth
  5. The feeling and function is just as the original tooth
  6. Pronunciation is improved because of the elimination of bulky dentures.
  7. It prevents loss of bones so the appearance of the face will improve

Why Dental Implant?

To lose a tooth is devastating. It leads to physical problems such as its impact on the appearance, its impact on a person’s health, and its ability to take away someone’s confident smile.

It is imperative that a lost tooth is quickly treated by dental implant in order to prevent any further impact on health.

  1. Bone loss
  2. Movement of teeth, extrusion
  3. Changes in occlusion due to movement of teeth
  4. Problems in the jaw joint
  5. Difficulty chewing
  6. Stress on the remaining teeth

Bridge and Implant

In Tokyo and Nihonbashi, instead of the traditional bridge or removable denture, we offer majority of our patients the implants which has clear benefits. Before implant treatment was finalized, methods in treatments for loss tooth were either to utilize a bridge by maintaining the remaining teeth or utilize a removable denture.

When forming a bridge, a perfectly healthy tooth had to be shaved and becomes the base to support the new bridge in order to align with the neighboring teeth. However, this level of strength supported by the remaining, neighboring tooth exceeds the threshold of what a tooth can support thus leading to eventual melting of the bones that support these teeth. Therefore, the natural support mechanism is weakened. Form an aesthetic point of view, a dark shadow appears near the bridge and the gap between the gums and bones widens more than the natural support system. Also, when chewing strength is added to the bridge, it forms a gap in between the bridge and the natural teeth, which progresses the dental caries and if it reaches the nerves, it increases the likelihood of requiring a root canal treatment in the future. If the bridge requires three or more teeth, flossing becomes difficult or may not be possible at all to do.

Dental Implants vs Dental Bridge Dental Bridge

The impact of losing a tooth on a person’s mental health will vary according to each person. There may be a huge impact on a person’s social life. Fearing that their significant other might realize that they’re missing a tooth, they might avoid a romantic situation. If missing multiple teeth and is left alone without treatment for years, the facial structure changes and sometimes speeds up the aging process. Even though removable denture provides an aesthetic feel, it causes bone resorption due to the excessive amount of stress added on to the bones beneath the denture. Eventually, removable dentures require maintenance and adjustments. These problems can simply be solved by implants.

What are Dental Implants?

Dental implants utilize biocompatible titanium to support the tooth. The treatment of a loss tooth is completed by imitating the tooth as naturally as possible.

The implants we offer at the Tokyo clinic consists of three parts.

  1. Titanium. bone-integrated implant
  2. Implant abutment
  3. Implant ceramic crown

Find out what the dental implant can offer by viewing the cross-section diagram

Dental implants are most like natural teeth

Natural teeth

Natural crown, the outer layer is enamel and inner layer is made of dentin

Periodontal ligament connects the tooth and the bone

Ceramic crown gives the natural feel that matches the natural tooth

Implant abutment joins the crown and the implant

Bone grows on the surface of the implant to support the implant

What Is the Process of Dental Implant Process?

Treatment Plan: Treatment plan is one of the most important process within the treatment as careful and intelligent observation determines its success. Also, depending on the situation, it may require 3 -D images to make sure the implant is correct.

Implanting: Our Tokyo, Nihonbashi RDC specialist completes an ideal implant by constructing beautiful gums around the implant.

Treatment Period: It takes a few months before the bones around the implant is joined with the implant surface.

Temporary Crown: In case the implant part appears easy, for esthetic purpose we may place a temporary crown during the treatment period.

Second Operation of Abutment Consolidation: When the treatment period is completed, abutment is consolidated to connect with the ceramic crown.

Attachment of Ceramic Crown: A skilled technician specialized in ceramics finishes a ceramics crown with correct specifications and is attached.

Can Anyone Get A Dental Implant?

Anyone who is missing a tooth is a good candidate for dental implant. As far as age of the patient, it is okay to conduct the procedure for the older generation, however young patients should be cautious. Young patients who are in their early 10’s are still going through growth in facial bones and bones of the mouth and should avoid implants.

The best timing for an implant is immediately after the tooth came out or within a few weeks. However, we have successfully completed implant procedures for patients who have spent years after their tooth loss.

What’s most important is that the area near where the implant would be placed need to have healthy bones.

What Is the Procedure Like?

The surgery that we conduct at Tokyo, Nihonbashi involves zero pain. Treatments for dental implants have evolved greatly and is a very predictable treatment method today. While this implant treatment started 25 years ago, this last 10 years really completed the treatment methods.
At RDC, implant success rate has reached 100%. Very rarely, there were cases where the implant didn’t survive in the mouth. However, we have solved this issue by placing a new implant. Dental implant functions, feels, and appears as a natural tooth. When patients with implants are asked, most do not even remember where the implant was placed. That is because the implant feels so natural, as if were their own, previous tooth.

Do Implants Require Replacement?

In the last 30 years, RDC has successfully operated over 500 cases of implant. However, to successfully complete an implant, we have never encountered having to remove an old implant to place a new one.

Precise diagnosis and detailed treatment plan are essential in ensuring a success! We pay close attention so that the amount of strength applied to the oral cavity is appropriate. We avoid applying excessive pressure to the teeth or the implant in different directions or causing any damage.

Do Implants Require Special Care?

While implants do not have long-term limitations, when the bone isn’t complete, we must use caution. Immediately after the implant has been restored normally, you should avoid chewing anything hard. It is necessary to slowly progress the hardness rather than quickly jumping into hard items.

Implants do not require any special cleaning methods. Using a tooth brush, floss, and interdental brush, clean your teeth two to three times a day as you do normally. Also, you should receive professional care from the dentist twice a year.
